Bell 222A "Airwolf" N3176S (with all armaments out) overflies the suspected drug smuggling "Submarine", while filming the never released episode "Mystery Sub". The story goes thus, the USCG had received a tip-off that a decomissioned US Navy Nuclear Submarine was in use by the secret organisation "Schlecht", to ferry refined Crack Cocane to the continental United States. After several unsuccessful attempts to find the Sub, the FIRM was contacted, and asked to "deal" with the Sub once and for all. Airwolf and its crew (Stringfellow Hawke and Dominic Santini) were sent to the Florida Keys to intercept the Sub before it dropped off its contents. The episode was never completed after the sub sank shortly after the above screencap was made. Built of reinforced fibreglass the Sub had the ability to submerge up to 30 feet and was powered by two electric motors. Normally towed by a powerboat to conserve battery power, it was during this filming occasion that the Sub was destroyed after an over-enthusiastic powerboat driver accelarated too fast tearing off the nose of the Submarine, sending it to bottom of the Ocean. Needless to say the powerboat driver got the sack!!!
Awesome I loved watching airwolf with my grandad. Loved the theme tune too (the full version is on youtube) Apparently the actual airwolf Bell 222A is now an air ambulance in Germany.
